WESTFIELD, NJ—At the Feb. 19 Westfield Town Council meeting, Acting Mayor Jo Ann Neylan (standing in for Mayor Andy Skibitsky that evening) read a proclamation declaring this March “Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad Month," after which she thanked the members of the squad for their service.

Neylan also welcomed members of Boy Scout Troop 72, who were attending that evening’s meeting in order to earn their Citizen and Community Merit Badges.

At a council conference meeting earlier that evening, Finance Policy Committee Chairman Sam Della Fera told that council that the finance committee had sat down earlier with Police Chief David Wayman and Fire Chief Daniel Kelly earlier to discuss their budgets.

Regarding the budget as a whole, which he expected to be completed during the next few weeks, Della Fera noted, “We’re in very good shape. This year is shaping up to be a lot less of a challenge than years past.”
