WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield Allstate Agent Ron Bansky recently presented more than 15 youth soccer players and their coach from FC Maximus with soccer uniforms, backpacks, shin guards and tickets to the June 1 match between the U.S. Men’s National Team and Turkey during a surprise clinic featuring Brian McBride, a former USMNT and Major League Soccer legend. The program was part of the Allstate Good Hands FC, a series of events focused on providing local in-need youth soccer teams with the means to participate competitively.
The FC Maximus U-16 boys soccer team, comprised mostly of young athletes from low-income families, competes in the MAPS league in New Jersey. The organization’s goal is to develop its players to the point where they can earn scholarships to competitive colleges.
Bansky, who has been an Allstate New Jersey exclusive agent in Westfield for 14 years, is well known in town for giving back.
“The ‘Good Hands FC’ program came about as a result of Allstate's sponsorship of U.S. Soccer,” said Bansky. “I was approached by Allstate to be the Allstate Agent host for the New Jersey event for the local youth team FC Maximus and I jumped at the opportunity. The event combined two things that I enjoy—being involved in the community and soccer. As a former soccer coach and a father of two sons who are about the same age as the players at the event, I know how much it meant for these players to meet a player of Brian McBride's caliber and to receive brand new soccer gear that they can use in their training and in games.”
