WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Township Council recognized St. Cloud Girl Scout Troop 20745 for the girls' efforts to create and distribute blankets on November 2 to children in the Pediatric Unit of Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
Troop 50745 had approximately 35 girls of various ages participating. The fifth graders in the Troop, spearheaded the effort under the direction of longtime Troop Leader Alisa Vural. The girls stitched together patchwork type fabric pieces and hemmed the blankets, which totaled nine in all, and delivered them to the Saint Barnabas Pediatric Unit to "cheer up" the children there.
The girls also shared how the project gave them a deeper sense of compassion and caring for others.
Council President Susan McCartney lauded the girls and their efforts, presenting each with a Certificate of Recognition from the Township.
