WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Wednesday morning, May 14, West Orange police received a call about a possible luring attempt on Valley Road near Joyce Street.

The call was made by the father of a 12 year-old girl, both of whom said that a white Ford SUV had slowed down in an attempt to talk to the girl and possibly lure her into the vehicle. The girl, who did not speak to the occupants, retreated from the corner and the vehicle drove away. The father observed the incident from their home.

The father and child described the occupants of the vehicle as two African American males.  Police arrived on the scene but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

As a safety measure, the West Orange Police Depatment has instituted a limited-time  direct patrol in the morning and afternoon in the area the alleged crime was reported in.  The police are asking that anyone with any information contact the West Orange Police Department at 973-325-4000.
