The parishioners of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) in Lower Providence Township will host a unique mass tonight, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend the special service designed to celebrate diversity and immigration. The Catholic church has invited those from St. Patrick’s in Norristown to join them for a bilingual mass.

According to an article in The Times Herald, the mass will be conducted by Ricardo Ramirez, bishop emeritus of the Dioceses of Las Cruces, N.M.

Father Gus Puleo, pastor of St. Patrick Church wanted to work with Sister Diane Marie, Visitation BVM School principal, to bring two communities together for the special celebration.

“We want to emphasize the importance of appropriate attention paid to immigrants and what their needs are when they come to the U.S.,” Marie told the Herald. “And we want to promote idea of social justice and having respect for others.”

The mass will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the organizers. The mass will be held at 7 p.m., Feb. 19, at Visitation BVM, 196 N. Trooper Road, Norristown.
