WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Tree Top Adventure course, located in Turtle Back Zoo, and part of the South Mountain Recreation Complex, has officially reopened.
In October 2012, Essex County, and the rest of New Jersey, was hit by Hurricane Sandy; her path of destruction brought down the barely one-year-old Tree Top Adventure course. On Friday, the course was reopened after being destroyed 10 months ago, and it’s back with even more to show.
Prior to Hurricane Sandy, the adult section of the course had 24 obstacles. It has now been restored with an additional six obstacles, bringing the total to 30. The courses have been expanded to include a junior course for children. The new course also includes zip lines that adults can ride without having to complete the rest of the course. The obstacles are now attached through telephone poles instead of trees, and this change is expected to make the obstacles sturdier without taking away from the experience.
The Tree Top Adventure is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, hours will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For information on regulations, rules, and prices, visit the Tree Top Adventure page.
