Owner Pat Malvolta from The Scissor Joint stopped by to see owner Sara Megletti at PB&J Stores, and the Spring Street Hair & Fashion Party was created. Scheduled for Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Trinity Lounge and Restaurant, 173 Spring Street, the party is a celebration of spring styles in hair, makeup, clothing and accessories available on Spring Street in Newton. The free event combines the efforts of Scissor Joint stylists, clothing from PB&J Stores, model photographs by Cathy Rosselli Photography, and unique pet accessories from Maxwell & Molly’s Closet & Pet Boutique. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and features live models, food and drink specials, door prizes and surprises. Seating is limited and party-goers must call 973-940-7916 to make advance reservations at Trinity.
“This is not our first fashion event. We used to do the show at J.C.’s Grill House and simply took a break after it closed. We are excited about staging the production at Trinity this year,” comments Linda MacDonald, co-owner at The Scissor Joint. Professional photographer and stylist Cathy Rosselli started the model search by posting a “model-wanted” notice on her Facebook page. Almost immediately she got a group of fans who volunteered for a free photo shoot. Rosselli teamed with Sara Megletti at PB&J to dress and style the models for individual fashion photos. Rosselli explains, "So few women like how they look in a photograph. My clients are astonished when they see their portraits after we finish. We decided to photograph some of the models in advance so people can see the difference when you work with professionals who can bring out your best." Many of the creative photos can be seen on Facebook just by searching for Cathy Rosselli Photography or PB&J Stores.
The advance photos and fittings are all part of the show prep. The clothing styles range from dressy looks to business casual and sportswear from PB&J’s spring collection. After Megletti fits each model for the runway, the Scissor Joint stylists select jewelry and create the hair and makeup concepts featuring Motives makeup. Some models have been selected for an extra special personal make-over and will debut at the show. Another twist is that each selected runway looks will include pet accessories. Maxwell & Molly’s owner Bonnie Bitondo comments, “We are planning several surprises for the show. We’ve reached into the closet to select adorable pet accessories to match the human models in their outfits. We think people will be delighted by the variety.”
All four sponsors are predicting a sell-out night at the restaurant. Sara Megletti notes that “It’s great to stage events with high-quality, professional partners along Spring Street. Our models are excited about their part, and we’re having fun organizing the show. It’s a lot of work coordinating the models and publicizing the event, but it pays off when the audience sees the results and realizes what we have to offer. The party is an ideal opportunity to show off our talents and products and entertain our customers at the same time.”
