MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Jack O'Connor scored 2:18 into the game on a power play and C.J. Albanese won his 15th game of the season in goal for Chatham in its 5-2 ice hockey victory over Morristown on Saturday.
The victory clinched first place in the Mennen Division for Chatham for the first time since 1995.
Will Barnett and Teddy Simson were each credited with an assist on O'Connor's goal. After Morristown tied it at 1-1, the Cougars netted more goals in the opening period. Brett Montgomery made it 2-1 for Chatham when he converted a power-play goal on assists by O'Connor and Will Barnett at 13:12 of the period.
Simson then connected at 14:48 later on passes from Bryn Casey and Montgomery for a 3-1 lead.
Kevin Allen netted an even-strength goal in the second for Chatham. Ryan Barnett and Austin Pierce were credited with assists on the goal. Defenseman A.J. Albanese the connected for his first goal of the season on a power play at 9:24 of the second. Colby Collier and Joey Nappa earned the assists.
C.J. Albanese stopped 17 shots to earn the victory for Chatham.
