SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Oasis Church, established in Scotch Plains in 2010, has a youth group called ReCharge, who will be teaming up this November with non-profit Family Promise and area churches to help shelter the homeless.
According to Kathy Avens, Oasis Youth Group Minister, ReCharge will be cooking dinners for a number of families that will be sheltering at the United Methodist Church in Scotch Plains.
The youth of ReCharge will be responsible for serving food, playing with the kids, and cleanup on those nights that they provide dinner. The group is also collecting donations of bedding supplies like sheets, blankets, comforters and other care package items for distribution to the needy families.
Avens stated, "As a church our mission is to compassionately share Jesus and His love with people who are hurting, here and all around the world. This is a great opportunity for our Oasis Church and ReCharge Youth Group to start with our own community."
Oasis is a three year old NJ non-denominational church that meets in two locations: At 10 am on Sundays they meet at the Regal Hadley Cinema Stadium at 1000 Corporate Ct in South Plainfield, and at 11am at Snuffys Pantagis Rennaisance at 250 Park Ave in Scotch Plains
