NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The Pioneer girls soccer team sent their seniors off with a bang on Thursday, defeating Elizabeth, 5-0, on Senior Day at Lieder Field.
New Providence striker Erin Fay scored a hat trick, while fellow striker Lisa Caprara and midfielder Maggie Roughley added tallies in the victory.
Jen Maluso and Katie Vigilante of the Pioneers split the time in goal and provided a solid backing that kept New Providence on the attack.
“As a team, we did a great job finishing our shots," senior co-captain Anna Crisafi said. "We worked well together and continued to press them throughout the entire game.”
This Pioneer victory improves their record to 6-8, while the Minutemen drop to 8-2-5.
“I’m very proud of the team today,” New Providence head coach Scott Murphy said. “We played one of our better games of the season, and it was the day we were recognizing the seniors.”
The Pioneers look to feed off this win on Tuesday when they take on Union at Lieder Field. The match kicks off at 4 p.m.
