In honor of New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary, Westfield will be a stop on the New Jersey 350 (NJ350) Pop-Up Store tour. This unique statewide program of temporary stores has never before been attempted and will travel over 1,000 miles during New Jersey’s 350th anniversary year. Westfield is one of the 14 towns participating in the program that highlights the assets that downtown businesses bring to the state’s economy, culture and history.
Now through Saturday July 12 from 10 am to 8 pm, visit 200 Central Avenue (at the intersection of North & Central Avenues) and browse Westfield’s NJ350 Pop-Up Shop.
The common thread of each store includes items representing Jerseyana (made in New Jersey items or reflecting New Jersey), NJ350 branded merchandise (hats, shirts, and more), items from the Island of Jersey (from which New Jersey received its name) and unique offers from local businesses that vary in each host community.
The shop, staffed by Downtown Westfield Corporation and volunteers, will feature merchandise from numerous Westfield merchants and the New Jersey State Museum. Downtown Westfield’s store will feature Westfield items, Westfield Historical Society items, and items from local businesses. Featured items will include displays of: the Farmhouse Store’s selection of Westfield and New Jersey home goods and jewelry, The Town Book Store’s books about Westfield and local writers, Le Bain Bath Boutique unique body and bath products, Patricia & Paul’s branded balsamics and olive oils, Sole’s own brand of Italian shoes, Trader Joe’s reusable Jersey tote bags, Gallery U Boutique’s jewelry, Westfield Running Company’s specialty shirts, and Evalyn Dunn Gallery’s Westfield coasters. The store will highlight unique products that can only be found in Westfield. Stop by the store to see the complete collection of merchandise celebrating this momentous occasion.
The NJ350 Pop-Up Shop hosted a ribbon cutting event, and on July 9, at 7 pm, the store will hold a book signing and meet the author event with Rutgers University Press author Mark Di Ionno, a 2013 Pulitzer finalist and columnist at the Star Ledger. Mark will be signing his books including his most recent, "Guide to New Jersey's Revolutionary War Trail." Come hear from this renowned author himself!
The location in Westfield for the NJ350 Pop-Up Store will be one of sixte-en temporary stores sites that have been chosen in 14 communities during 2014. During that period, more than 350 independent businesses will be represented within the temporary locations. Westfield is the only town in Union county that will have an official NJ350 Pop-Up shop.
