MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Police have reported that an autistic 15-year-old boy fell from his third-floor bedroom window on South 4th Street on Monday, according the boy’s father. Officers arrived on scene shortly after 9 a.m. and found the juvenile laying outside on the ground, “alert but complaining of pain to his leg and hip,” according to a statement from Maplewood Police.

A detective also responded to the scene and spoke with family members as part of an initial investigation.

“At this time there are no signs of foul play and it appears the juvenile may have attempted to jump from his third-story window to a tree that is just outside of the window,” said the police statement. The juvenile was transported to UMDNJ by the Maplewood Fire Department for treatment of his injuries, which did not appear to be life-threatening.
