EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Lester E. Taylor III, the East Orange City Council and the Mayor’s Office of Employment and Training will host the 2014 Summer Youth Employment Kickoff on Wednesday, April 23rd at Cicely L. Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts.
The Mayor’s Office of Employment and Training’s Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP) provides hundreds of young people, ages 14 through 18, with opportunities to explore careers with local businesses and develop the skills needed to succeed in the 21st century workforce.
Students attending the kickoff will have the opportunity to complete applications for the SWEP program. The Summer Youth Employment Kickoff will also feature guest speakers who will discuss how hands-on work experience can lead to building rewarding and successful careers.
The 2014 Summer Youth Employment Kickoff will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23rd at Cicely L. Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts, 35 Winans Street, East Orange, NJ 07017.
Students applying for the Summer Work Experience Program must be East Orange residents at least 14 years of age, enrolled in school and authorized to work in New Jersey. Students attending the kickoff event must be dressed appropriately. Obtaining an application does not guarantee employment.
