On Sunday, September 15, 2013 the Chatham Area Artisan Guild (CAAG) will host the Chatham Area Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts. Held in the parking area of the NJT Train Station in Chatham Borough, this event will feature 100+ fine artisans and crafts people from around the tri-state area displaying and selling their original creations.
Although this festival is in it’s first year, CAAG feels that it will be very successful and become a premier event in the Chatham area for years to come. The station will be transformed into an open-air gallery with exhibits highlighting works of art in clay, wood, fibers, metals, glass, jewelry, watercolors, oil, mixed media and photography.
Come hungry so you can enjoy the wide array of specialty foods served by some select Chatham area eateries. Also attending will be sponsors, local civic organizations and businesses helping to support this event. A live outdoor concert will take place throughout the day and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of musical entertainers from the local area. Although this event does not feature kid’s rides and such, we will have a free “hands on” craft section for the children to enjoy and lots of fun food too.
This event is juried and to qualify as an exhibitor your work must be top notch. Visitors will be treated to some of the most beautiful, quality creations of craftsmanship that you’ll see anywhere. One of the exhibitors participating is award-winning artist Lisa Budd who creates in watercolors and oils and exhibits in many galleries. Her work is well regarded in the art community. If it’s one of a kind jewelry you are seeking, visit the Frugal Contessa who specializes in handcrafted artisan jewelry. She designs using Dichroic glass as well as PMC pieces and use gemstones, pearls, silver, gold, vermeil, Swarovski crystals, Venetian and Tibetan beads to create works of art. Each of her pieces is a labor of love. Handbag designer Lorelei Burns from Noodle Alley creates her items from people’s personal material and items. Each bag from Noodle Alley has a story to tell. Some are made from a Chinese apron, a French ski sweater, a little boy’s bedspread, bark cloth from the 1950’s, a Japanese robe, a scrap of rug, an Indian table runner and more. She can create a handbag from your tired, your poor, and your leftover fabric yearning to be bags. See Lorelei to have her create a unique bag for you that may have a sentimental value as well. These are just a few of the talented exhibitors that will be displaying their works

The Chatham Area Artisan Guild represents local area artists and artisans with full time businesses in the applied arts and crafts. Formed in 2010 to pool resources in the face of a recession, the guild strives to promote and grow the individual business through community awareness while at the same time serving as a source of references for guild members to the community. New members are vetted for integrity as well as for the quality of their work, thereby providing area residents with a level of comfort and familiarity that sometimes only comes after many years. CAAG will be the jurors of exhibitor work for this event.
