NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- The Pingry Blue Bears scored six runs in the second inning against James "JT" Tucker and the North Plainfield Canucks, and never looked back on their way to a 13 - 2 win after five innings at Krausche field this afternoon. Pingry scored another run in the fourth on a home run that cleared the right field fence at the softball field and another half dozen more on a series of hits in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach.
The Canucks used three pitchers in the first five innings, starting with Tucker who gave way to Josh Girardi in the third, and Evan Miranda coming in in the fourth.
The Canucks had two excellent scoring chances in the second and fourth innings with bases loaded and one out in both instances, but were only able to come away with two runs. In the second shortstop Kyle Grant knocked in Taylor Raynor with a single to left, but Kevin Monroy grounded out to end the inning.
In the fourth Nick Cherasaro and Evan Miranda singled to lead off the inning, Josh Girardi struck out but Keyshawn Tucker Grimes legged out a bunt down the first base line to load the bases. Kyle Grant hit a sacrifice fly to right field to knock in Cherasaro for the second run.
The Canucks’ next game is Tuesday. May 20th at home against Manville.
