A Message from the Towaco Board of Fire Commissioners

MONTVILLE, NJ – The Towaco Board of Fire Commissioners wants to remind all homeowners and tenants who have a fire hydrant on their property to remove all snow and ice to allow safe access for the firemen in the event of an emergency.

In accordance with the town Ordinance # 2011-21, Chapter 330-38, residents have 24-hours to remove all snow and ice from the hydrant(s) that is on any highway, street or avenue in the Township of Montville.

Not abiding by this town Ordinance may subject the resident to potential liability in the event of an emergency if the fire hydrant is obstructed due to snow and ice.

The Towaco Board of Fire Commissioners communicated it would not want to see any of the town’s emergency personnel become injured while protecting our community.  Further, they are requesting three feet clearance around the fire hydrant so they can do their job safely and efficiently.

If you have already cleared your fire hydrant, they thank you for your assistance.
