Town of Westfield’s Mobile Website's Upgrade and More Discussed at Meeting

WESTFIELD, NJ — At a conference meeting Jan. 7, the Town Council learned that the town of Westfield’s mobile website was recently upgraded to make access easier from smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.
Enhancements include larger navigation buttons that are easier to tap, an intuitive navigation structure, no required downloads or updates, a built-in search feature, access to Facebook and Twitter sites and a “go to top” button that minimizes scrolling. All the content available on the desktop site is available on the mobile site now, as well.
“In the age of everyone using mobile devices, we want to make sure our mobile presence is what it should be,” Town Administrator Jim Gildea said later.

The council also learned that the finance committee had spoken with a representative from New Jersey American Water earlier in the evening. Council members had told the representative that the company needed to notify residents better when they were going to be working in the area.
“They were doing that, but not to our satisfaction,” Gildea told The Alternative Press later. He said the council also told the representative that some residents had complained that work had started too early in the morning.
At the town council meeting later that evening, which lasted only minutes, the council passed a resolution changing the date of the next meeting from Jan. 21 to Jan. 28.
