The Kiwanis Special Playground Dedication

WEST CALDWELL, NJ- On July 23, the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex celebrated the dedication of an all-inclusive playground on the Harrison School grounds with an official ribbon cutting.
Mayor Ann Dassing and Councilman Michael Docteroff joined the Kiwanis President, MaryAnne Luke and the new President-elect Jo-Ann C. Dixon along with Superintendent Dr. James G. Heinegg, President of the Caldwell-West Caldwell BOE Mary Davidson and Director of Special Services Paul Palozzola to celebrate the event.
The playground was built low to the ground in order to ensure that all children may partake in safe, active play. “It’s the first playground of its kind in Essex County,” said Dixon who mentioned plans to further extend its accessibility to those using wheelchairs.
The local Kiwanis Club members were not the only ones proud of the completion of the project. Lance Incitti, president of the Kiwanis International Foundation said that he was pleased to, “extend their reach with local clubs and assist with projects needed by the community, especially the ones involving children. It’s all about the children.”
