Shakespeare on The Green July 17
Wednesday, July 16, 2014 • 12:03am
The Summit Free Public Library is pleased to present the Next Stage Ensemble of the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in a performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream on the Village Green". Join us on Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 PM for this open-air presentation of William Shakespeare's classic comedy. Bring a picnic dinner or grab a pizza and an ice cream from the vendors on the Green.
When starry-eyed young lovers and zany would-be actors cross paths with mischief-making fairies in a magical forest, the result is one of the world's most uproarious comedies. "A.Midsummer Night's Dream" is the ideal first Shakespeare for young people, and a riotous roller-coaster ride for teens, adults and Shakespeare lovers of all ages!
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is the state's largest professional theatre company dedicated to the presentation of Shakespeare's canon and other classic dramatic entertainments for the cultural enrichment of the community. The Next Stage Ensemble was created to foster the work of early career actors and to train them in ensemble-based performance techniques.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Manley-Winser Foundation.
Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs for seating. In case of rain, the performance will be held in the Central Presbyterian Church at 70 Maple Street in Summit (seating limit: 250).
