Resident asks Candidate to Stop the Attacks

Last week’s letters to the editor are more proof that politician Chrissy Buteas and her small band of followers will do or say anything so she can climb the political ladder.
Rather than talk about what we can do to better our town, the letters attack everything and anything. In fact, apparently that is theme of the Buteas campaign: Attack whatever might stand in the way of Chrissy and the political career to which she thinks she is entitled.
I hope people think back to when Chrissy was on the council. Unlike today, the council was beset by constant bickering and petty politics.
To a great extent, that all evaporated when Buteas lost reelection. In the years since, we’ve seen so many good things happen: The municipal part of the tax bill is under control, new businesses and jobs are coming to town, and the council booted Liquid Assets. We also cannot forget how the DEP approved the Hollywood Avenue project, the “Pickups on Demand” program began, we’re about to build a new library addition, the town was named one of the top towns for home ownership in the state, and the list goes on.
Can anyone honestly say that Chrissy Buteas has a string of accomplishments like this (or anything close)? The answer is no. Most people would be hard pressed to even name even two or three things she did as a councilwoman. So why in the world would we choose a lackluster ex-councilwoman over one of the best mayors we’ve seen in decades?
I guess when you’re Chrissy Buteas and you don’t have a strong record and you don’t have a solid plan for going forward, you do the next best thing: You become a one-woman political wrecking ball and attack everything and anything. I will admit, though, she has proven to be good at that.
