SUMMIT, NJ - The renovation of Promenade Park, located at 424 Springfield Avenue, has begun. The project is in the second week of the estimated four- to six-week timeline scheduled for its completion.
Director of Community Services Beth Kinney reports that the work is progressing smoothly. “The planned upgrades to the Promenade Park are being implemented and include the installation of lighting, seating walls, landscaping upgrades, decorative walkways, and replacement of a drinking fountain,” says Kinney. “We expect the project work to stay on schedule and to be completed in mid-June.”
During construction, the Promenade is closed to all pedestrian traffic. Access to Ahrre’s Coffee and Marigolds Café is through the front entrance of Mondo. Pedestrian access to the Tier parking garage will continue through the Maple Street entrance, as well as through the main Tier garage entrance on Springfield Avenue and pedestrian walkway between 444 and 446 Springfield Avenue.
“This much anticipated renovation project is creating a beautiful and useful community space,” explains Common Councilmember and Public Works Committee Chair Sandy Lizza. “We will soon have a renovated park that residents can appreciate and use - a place to sit and relax or share a cup of coffee with a friend.”
Residents are asked to contact the Department of Community Services at 908 / 273-6404 with any questions about the construction project.
