9-18-2013 – Corporal Dennis Carovillano charged Kathleen McLeod, 23, of New Providence with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, hindering apprehension and falsifying a police report. The charges stem from a report that McLeod made indicating that her 2002 Honda Accord was stolen and was crashed on Springfield Avenue. Patrols located the empty, disabled, vehicle on Springfield Avenue by Pittsford Way. Due to the report by Ms. Mcleod, the Union County Sheriff’s Department K-9 and surrounding agencies were contacted to assist in the search for the possible suspect. During the investigation, a witness was located and advised officers that she observed a female fitting the description of Kathleen McLeod, getting out of the vehicle after crashing into a telephone pole. Patrols located McLeod standing in her driveway and she was placed under arrest.
9-21-2013 - The owner of a residence on High Street reported a burglary to his residence sometime between September 20 and September 21, that occurred sometime during the night. Entrance to the residence was made through forcefully damaging a basement window. The homeowner reported a large amount of alcohol located in the basement of the residence. Patrols also observed that in front of the residence, a Borough street sign was ripped out of the ground. Detectives and patrols are following up on several leads on this case. 9-21-2013 – Patrols responded on a report of loud juveniles on Martins Lane at 10:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed four juveniles. One of the juveniles attempted to hide a back pack containing alcohol from officers. The juvenile that was in possession of alcohol was taken into protective custody and released to a parent at headquarters.
