The Summit Free Public Library is pleased to announce another “Music at the Library” concert on Sunday, February 23, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
Members of the Radiance Chamber Ensemble will perform: Lea Karpman, violin; Michael Schneider, violin; Peggy Reynolds, viola; and Oliver Shapiro, cello. The group will play pieces by two composers known as child prodigies. Juan Crisóstimo Arriaga, called “the Spanish Mozart”, wrote his String Quartet #2 at the age of 16. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the String Quartet in D major when he was 21 or 22. In addition, the Ensemble will play “Bethena”, a ragtime waltz by Scott Joplin
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs. This free program will take place in the rotunda of the library’s main reading room. Seating is limited. First come, first seated.
