In Emergency Session, Chatham Township Committee Allocates $175K for Sandy Storm Debris Cleanup

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ - In an emergency session on Friday, Nov. 9, the Chatham Township Committee allocated $175,000 for storm debris pickup in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
The Township will begin curbside pickup of vegetative storm debris on Tuesday November 13th. Residents are urged to continue bringing storm debris to the compost facility on Tanglewood Lane, which will be open daily from 8AM until 5PM until further notice.
According to Chatham Township Clerk Gregory LaConte, contractors engaged in cleaning up debris from Chatham Township residences may dispose of the material free of charge at Tanglewood.
Residents should not pay a disposal fee to their contractors.
Storm debris placed at the curb should not exceed 8 inches in diameter and 6 feet in length. Tree trunks and root balls will not be collected. This collection is for storm-related vegetative debris only. Please dispose of regular yard waste in the normal fashion.
Leaves are not being collected.
Chatham Township will only make one pass through all streets so that cleanup can proceed in an orderly way to accomplish this huge task.
