Here We Go Again – Area Braces for Winter Storm

In anticipation of the snowstorm that will impact the area beginning early Thursday morning, municipalities are asking residents to remove cars from all roadways. This will assist the public works departments in their effort to clear streets in a safe, effective and timely manner.
“Cars that are parked in the roadway hamper the efforts and safety of plows and emergency personnel during these weather events. If a local state of emergency is declared, Township Police will have the ability to tow vehicles that may be impeding the cleanup process,” a statement made by Millburn Township said.
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if at all possible. Roadways will be narrow due to previous snowfalls. Millburn and Maplewood, like other towns in our area, continue to be low on salt supply. South Orange should have enough to get through the storm.
“Do not plow or deposit any snow onto the public road. It is illegal when done by plow, snow throwers or manually,” a statement from Maplewood reminds us. Maplewood plans to cancel Jitney service if the roads become snow-covered.
