Harrison Students Learn About Nutrition Through Magic, Comedy and Music

LIVINGSTON, NJ - Comic Magician Brian Richards, better known as the "Nutrition Magician" made his annual visit to Harrison School on March 7. Through comedy and magic—and audience participation—students and staff learned the importance of eating a variety of fruits and vegetables each day.
The Magic of 5-A-Day Nutrition Assembly featured magic, comedy, music, audience participation, and educational fun. Attendees learned:
- Why it is important to eat five serving of fruits and veggies every day
- How to colors of fruits and veggies are good for different parts of the body
- Why balance and moderation are so important
- How to know the difference between a "sometimes food" and an "all-the-time food"
According to Richards’ website, “child obesity has become a national epidemic. The combination of poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles are guaranteeing heart disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses.”
