Grover Cleveland Middle School Applauds Nine Students Accepted into NJMSA Junior High School Region I Chorus

WEST CALDWELL, NJ - Middle school students Grover Cleveland Middle School (GCMS), Caldwell, are hitting the high and the low notes this week after learning that nine of their peers have been accepted into the North Jersey Music Educators Association Junior High School Region I Chorus. Under the guidance of chorus director Deana Larsen, eighth graders Ken Axe, Joseph Lombardi, Elise Maiorano, Jodi Maloney, Ashvin Nagarajan, and Jordan Whiting; and seventh graders Portia Ali, Nicole Caracappa and Jude Lammers; auditioned and were accepted into the chorus that will perform in a concert at Secaucus High School on Sunday, March 2, at 3 p.m.
Auditions were held on February 1, where the students auditioned with hundreds of performers from the seven northern NJ counties. Performers had to demonstrate a variety of vocal skills, including diatonic major scales, and perform a memorized solo. Performers with the highest scores are accepted into the regional group.
