First Robbery in South Orange in 2014 Occurs on New Year's Day

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The first robbery of 2014 occurred on New Year’s Day.
Three men assaulted a New York resident as he was walking on South Orange Avenue near Elm Court at 10:30 p.m. The victim told police that he was punched from behind and that his cell phone was taken.
The robbers are described as three black males. One was wearing a striped shirt and a second was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, the victim said.
Police reported three arrests involving alcohol and marijuana over the holidays.
Colin Muench, 18, of Maplewood, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 while investigating a report of a large group of youths drinking alcohol in the street in the area of Lenox Avenue and Lenox Place. Police said Muench had alcohol and marijuana.
Kinley Lewis, 22, of South Orange, was arrested at 6 p.m. on Dec. 29 when police checked a vehicle parked illegally on Holland Road. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
- Venancio Bonifaciosuazo, 42, of Orange, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 after a report of a confrontation between two drivers on Ridgewood Road. He was charged with driving under the influence.
In other police news, the driver’s side door lock of a vehicle parked in the driveway of an Eder Terrace resident was damaged. The incident occurred between noon on Dec. 27 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 28. The person or people responsible were not able to break into the 2007 Infinity.
