Chatham Farmer's Market Returns Saturday, June 21

CHATHAM, NJ - The sun is shining, the temperature is rising and that means it's time to start anticipating the delicious taste of Jersey Fresh locally grown food.
Chatham Borough Farmers' Market has announced that it will open for its 8th season on Saturday, June 21. Located at the Railroad Plaza South, off of Fairmount Avenue, the Market will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturdays through November 22nd, rain or shine. Free parking is available.
Come meet the friendly vendors and spoil yourself on the offerings that local producers have grown and made. Offerings include a variety of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. In addition, there will be, gourmet pickles and olives, fresh guacamole, artisan cheeses, honey, eggs, dried fruits and nuts, herbs, pasture raised meats and poultry, Jersey made wines, flowers and local craft items, to name a few.
Chatham Borough Farmers’ Market has scheduled many different educational events as well as other special events throughout the Market season. Be sure to visit weekly so you can enjoy everything the Market has to offer.
Opening day will celebrate Healthy Kids Day, an annual tradition, on June 21st Ceremony bell ringing at 8 a.m., followed by the announcement of the 2013 Sunflower Contest Winner.
Market goers will be treated to a performance by the Chatham Brass Ensemble at 11 a.m. The following week will feature WMTR radio broadcasting live from the Market!
In other upcoming events, Chatham Borough Farmers’ Market will celebrate summer melons by hosting a Melon Mixer in July. Customers will be able to sample different melons that will be available for purchase from our local farmers. Additional July events will include Story Time with Sara and a visit from acoustic folk rock trio, The Coteries.
August kicks off with our annual Peach Party, including an appearance by Northern New Jersey Peach Princess, Catherine Melick Bryant, and a peach tasting event. Later in the month is the highly anticipated annual Tomato Tasting & People’s Choice vote, when market-goers can sample tomatoes grown by local farmers and vote for their favorite. The month will end with the celebration of International Bacon Day.
